Victoria Fox: Gardening As a Safe Space to Fail

Season 1 Episode 2

Our very first season's very first guest is Victoria (Torrie) Fox, a trained opera singer who pivoted to garden design in 2020.

Torrie is a plant nerd following her passion for getting her hands in soil. Founder of ground/play gardens, Torrie designs edible and sustainable landscapes in the Los Angeles area. A California Master Gardener, she holds certificates in permaculture from Oregon State University and Horticulture from UCLA and has an extensive background in both classical singing and education - and no, she says, you do not need to sing to your plants for them to flourish (unless it brings you joy).

Herself a beginner at sourdough baking and parenting, Torrie talks about some of the pricklier parts of starting out as a gardener, what social media gets wrong (and right!) about the pursuit, and how work with plants is a great place to learn to mess up and start again.
